Overview

The Regulatory & Litigation Counsel will report to the Deputy General Counsel, supporting the Chief Legal Officer, and provide legal support and advice on a wide variety of regulatory and litigation matters related to MRO Corporation (MRO) and its subsidiaries. This position requires exceptional oral and written communication skills, sound legal judgment, and the ability to manage complex disputes and regulatory issues simultaneously.

Responsibilities

  • Providing guidance on laws, regulations, and regulatory developments applicable to the healthcare industry
  • Analyzing existing and newly enacted regulations as they relate to healthcare and privacy
  • Reviewing and drafting regulatory summaries with the ability to distill complex information into actionable guidance applicable to the HIM industry
  • Driving awareness on privacy and security policies and regulations, including developing company-wide training
  • Managing litigation matters, including coordinating with outside counsel, tracking case strategy, and supporting discovery and document preservation obligations
  • Assessing and prioritizing incoming disputes, researching and applying governing law, and determining the proper course of action to resolve
  • Drafting legal documents including memoranda, position papers, demand letters, and responsive summaries to third parties
  • Assisting in a variety of other legal issues and projects to support the legal department

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor Degree (JD) from accredited law school
  • Licensed to practice law by the bar of at least one state
  • 3+ years of experience in a multi-client law firm, health insurer, hospital, or similar organization
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare law; litigation experience required
  • Experience with HIPAA, health information management, or privacy law preferred
  • Strong interpersonal, writing, and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to interact with all levels of management
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and able to work independently and as a part of a team to prioritize responsibilities, take initiative and self-motivate/self-manage work and time

 

Total Compensation
Base pay is one element of the total compensation package. Eligible employees may also receive an annual cash bonus and have access to a comprehensive benefits offering, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and a 401(k) plan.

 

Salary Range
It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range. Individual pay may be influenced by factors such as skills, qualifications, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity.
